To find:

True statements in the given options.

Solution:

  • Increase in length of a wire or a rod occurs due to increase in temperature:- yes, this statement is true.

  • The new length due to ∆T change in temperature will be given as :

 \boxed{L = L_{0}(1 +  \alpha  \Delta T)}

So, 2nd statement is true.

  • \lambda is coefficient of linear expansion of the solid; it is a materialistic property and has a constant value for a particular solid substance. So, 3rd statement is also true.

  • Initially, the change in length was calculated as follows:

\boxed{\Delta L \propto \:  L_{0}(\Delta T)}

From here, a constant \alpha was introduced, hence 4th statement is also correct.

Hope It Helps.
