Answer :

  1. According to the reactivity series of metals, copper metal is less reactive than sodium metal. Hence, no displacement reaction will occur between NaCl solution and copper metal.
  2. Again, aluminium metal is less reactive than Mg, so no displacement reaction will occur between MgCl₂ solution and aluminium metal.
  3. Again, silver metal is less reactive than iron, so no displacement reaction will occur between FeSO₄ solution and Ag.
  4. In fourth case, displacement reaction will take place and Cu will displace Ag from its solution. This happens because copper metal is more reactive than silver.

Additional Information:

Single-displacement reaction:-

  • Single-displacement reaction or simply, displacement reaction is a type of chemical reaction in which an atom or a group of atoms displace another atom or group of atoms of a compound.

Examples:-

  1. \rm{Fe(s)+CuSO_4(aq)\longrightarrow{}FeSO_4(aq)+Cu(s)}
  2. \rm{Mg(s)+2HCl(aq)\longrightarrow{}MgCl_2(aq)+H_2(g)}
