\Huge{\mathbb{CTENOPHORES\ \colon }}

  • Ctenophores are commonly called as Sea Walnuts,as their general body surface resembles Walnuts. As their habitat is aquatic , thus the name "Sea Walnuts"

  • They're also called as "Comb Jellies". Rows of cilia run throughout the body of Ctenophores , which facilitate locomotion in these organisms. The number of rows can vary between 8 to 50.

  • Ctenophores are bilaterally symmetrical i.e.,only one axis passing through the centre of the organism can divide the organism into two equal halves

  • Ctenophores have an incomplete gut,the aboral end and oral end lie on the anterior and posterior ends respectively

  • Ctenophores have adhesive structures called "Colloblasts" that are found on the rows of cilia

  • Ctenophores develop indirectly i.e.,they exist as larvae before fully developing into an adult.

Example,

Ctenophora,Nuda etc
