Root Pressure is sufficient to lift the water up in small plants. Root pressure are transverse osmotic pressure that is present within the cells of a root system and it could also cause sap to rise through a plant stem to the leaves.

The Root pressure occurs on xylem of some vascular plants and soil moisture levels are higher at night or when transpiration is low during the day
