There will be no reaction between butene-2 and Cu2Cl2Cu2Cl2 because it has no acidic hydrogen. In butyne-1 the terminal hydrogen is acidic (CH3CH2−C≡CH)(CH3CH2−C≡CH) so it will give a real ppt with ammonical Cu2Cl2Cu2Cl2

Hence d) which is ammonical CU2CL2 solution is the right answer!

Options re not provided in the question, The complete question is as following:

a. NaNH2

b. Br2

c. O2

d. HCL

Answer:

The main difference between 1-butyne and 2-butyne is that the triple bond between the first and the second carbon is present in 1-butyene, while in 2-butyene it is located between the second and third carbon atoms.

Explanation:

Br  2  and NaNH 2 will be able to distinguish between 1-butyne and 2-butyne.

When NaNH2 reacts with 1-butyne it will give sodium salt and with 2-butyne there will be no reaction.

When Br2 reacts with 1-butyne it will give (E)- 1, 2 - dibromobut-1-ene  and with 2-butyne the product will be (E)- 2, 3 - dibromobut-2-ene.

HCL nd O2 will give same products, henec not able to distinguish between

1-butyne and 2-butyne.

Hence, the correct options are a and b.
