The children’s Bureau is an office of the Administration for Children and Families. This is the first federal Agency that concentrated mainly on the improvement of children and their families.

Theodore Roosevelt advocated first to set up a Children’s Bureau and later created by the 27th president of the United States, William Howard Taft in 1912.

The bureau has tackled many social issues that involved children in it. They are

  • Child labor
  • Orphanages
  • Family economic security
  • Neglected and Abused Children
  • Maternal and infant death.
