Answer :

  • The answer is b .

Derivation :

Let ,

  • M = mass of the earth
  • m = mass of the object
  • G = universal constant of gravitation
  • R = radius of the earth

The weight of the object be equal to the gravitational force acting on it on the surface of the earth .

Hence ,

\leadsto F = mg \\ \\

By Newton's law of gravitation ,

\leadsto F =\dfrac {GMm}{R^2}\\ \\

Now , let's equate both the equations ,

\leadsto \not{m}g = \dfrac{GM \not{m} }{R^2}\\ \\

Hence proved ,

\leadsto \underline{\boxed{\red{g = \dfrac{GM }{R^2}}}}\\ \\
