2 , 8 , 8 , 1 is an electro-positive element.

But why?

  • Electro-positive elements are those atoms which can lose one or more electrons and form octet configuration in order to become more stable.

  • 2,8,8,1 is such an element in which the atom will lose its 1 valence electron and achieve the octet configuration (i.e. 2,8,8) and become extremely stable.

  • So, option 3 is correct and actually the element is POTASSIUM

  • However, in the other options, the atoms are either already in octet configuration or take up electrons (i.e. electro-negative).

\star Option 3 is correct ✔️
