Tall and dwarf are characteristics which are passed through the genes of the parents.

Both their genes are combined, after which the dominant character of the any combination gets transferred to the offspring.

In plants, T represents the tall characteristic which is dominant, whereas t represents the dwarf characteristic which is recessive.

A combination having only t will be the representation of a dwarf plant.
