Cases where this is not the case:

On a cantilever, on the free end, where a point load is applied on the free end, the shear force is maximum and calculated moment is zero but that point is not point of contraflexure.

Point of contraflexure is always where the calculated moment changes sign (i.e. from positive to negative or vice versa).

A point of contraflexure is a point where the curvature of the beam changes sign. It is sometimes referred to as a point of inflexion and will be shown later to occur at the point, or points, on the beam where the B.M. is zero.
