Which of the following set of quantum numbers is not allowable
(A) n= 3, 1=0, m = 0, s = -1/2
(B) n=3, 1=1, m = 0, s= +1/2
(C) n= 3, 1=1, m= -2, s = +1/2

Answer:

Option C

Explanation:

For any value of n, the value of

i) l = 0 - (n-1)

ii) m = (-l) - (l) including 0

iii) s = +1/2 or -1/2

I think now you can get that fro l= 1 m can't be -2 and hence option C is the answer.
