  • Carbon has valency of four, so it needs four more electrons to complete it's octet.
  • Carbon compounds form covalent bonds by sharing of electrons. Since no ionisation takes place, there exists no force of attraction between the molecules.
  • Thus, force of attraction is not very strong.
  • For the same reason, which is absence of ions, these compounds can not conduct electricity as well.
