The first statement is not  true.  Deductive reasoning is not used to make general conclusions.   The conclusions are strictly based on the facts and data (on axioms too) given in the statements.

Deductive reasoning is used to prove statements  true or false. It is used in algebra to solve equations. It is used to prove basic theorems too. It is used in computer science also for theoretical proofs. It is also used in Philosophy.
