Heya !!!

Here is Your Answer.

➡ The image in the plane mirror is of the same size as the object.
True : The image formed in always the same size of the object. That's why its magnification is +1.

➡ An object is placed at a distance of 20 cm in front of plane mirror the image formed would be 40 cm from the object.
True : Image are formed at the same distance inside the mirror as they are in front of the mirror. So, when an object is placed at 20 cm from the mirror, the image will be formed 20 cm inside the mirror. So, the distance from object and image will be 20+20 = 40 cm.

➡ the image formed in a plane mirror is laterally inverted.
True. The image formed is literally inverted and this phenomena is known as Lateral Inversion.

Hope It Helps

The statements (1) , (2) and (3) all are correct.

Which of the following statements is true(s) the image formed in a plane mirror ?

  1. The image in the plane mirror is of the same size as the object.
  2. An object is placed at a distance of 20cm in front of plane mirror, the image formed would be 40cm from the object.
  3. The image formed in a plane mirror is laterally inverted.

Properties of plane mirror :

  • The image formed in a plane mirror is virtual.
  • The size of image as same as the size of object.
  • Distance of image from the mirror is as same as the distance of object from the mirror.
  • The image is erect.
  • The Image is laterally inverted.
  • The magnification of image formed by a plane mirror is +1.

From above properties, it is clear that options (1) and (3) are correct.

Now let's check option (2)

object distance from the mirror, u = 20 cm

∴ image distance from the mirror , v = u = 20 cm [ but appears on the other side of mirror]

∴ distance of image from the object = u + v = 20 + 20 = 40 cm

Hence, option(2) is also correct.

Therefore the statements (1) , (2) and (3) all are correct.
