ANSWER: The correct option must be"C" Shivering Thermogenesis

Shivering Thermogenesis- is a response to sudden exposure to cold and is a major contributor to enhanced heat production. Whereas Non-Shivering Thermogenesis is Thermogenesis without shivering is a technique for raising body temperature without shivering.

Explanation:

Reasons for Incorrect Option :

a) Sweating-

When heat activates sweat glands, these glands conduct that water, along with the body's salts, to the surface of the skin as sweat. Once on the surface, the water starts to evaporate. Water evaporating from the skin cools the body, keeping its temperature in a healthy range.

b) Flattening of hair skin-

The hairs on the skin lie flat and prevent heat from being trapped by the layer of still air between the hairs. This is caused by tiny muscles under the surface of the skin, called arrector pili muscles. When these muscles relax their attached hair follicles are not erect. These flat hairs increase the flow of air next to the skin and increase heat loss by convection and let our body cool.

d) Redistribution of blood flow to the periphery-

Vasodilation refers to the process of expanding (-dilation) the size of the blood vessels (vaso-). The now enlarged peripheral vessels of the skin allow for greater amounts of blood to flow near the surface of the skin. This allows our body to release a lot of body heat through radiation and helps to retain the body's normal temperature. Radiation, in this case, refers to thermal radiation, which is the process of transferring heat through space via electromagnetic waves.
