We have to identify the train which is in non - uniform motion.

time train X train Y

6 : 00 AM 5 km 5 km

6 : 30 AM. 10 km 15 km

7 : 30 AM. 15 km 22 km

answer : Train Y is in non uniform motion.

explanation : uniform motion : when a particle travels equal distance in equal time of interval, we say particle is in uniform motion otherwise it is in non uniform motion.

for Train X :

6 : 00 - 6 : 30 AM , time duration, ∆t = 30 min

distance, ∆x = 10 km - 5 km = 5 km

6 : 30 - 7 : 00 , time duration, ∆t' = 30 min

distance, ∆x' = 15km - 10 km = 5 km

here you see, ∆t = ∆t' and also ∆x = ∆x'

it means Train X travels equal distance in equal time interval so Train X is in uniform motion.

for Train Y :

6 : 00 - 6 : 30 AM , time duration, ∆t = 30 min

distance, ∆x = 15 km - 5 km = 10 km

6 : 30 - 7 : 00 , time duration, ∆t' = 30 min

distance, ∆x' = 22km - 15 km = 7 km

you see, ∆t = ∆t' but ∆x ≠ ∆x'

so, Train Y is in non uniform motion.

Therefore the answer is train Y.
