Tyndal effect means when light is focused on the solution the path of the light is visible.

  • Milk is a Colloidal Solution. So,it will show tyndall effect.

  • Starch is also a Colloidal solution. It will also show Tyndall effect.

Why does True Solution does not show Tyndall effect-

\implies Because,(a) salt solution and (c) copper sulphate solution are true solution. Their particle size is too small to scatter light. So they do not show Tyndall effect.

A True Solution is mixture of two or more homogeneous mixture in the fixed ratio. For example- Salt solution ,Sugar solution etc.

  • The particles of solution are very small.

  • The particles can not be filtered by filter paper.

  • It does not show tyndall effect.

  • It does not Show sedimentation.

Supension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particles do not dissolve, but get suspended throughout the bulk of the solvent,

  • The particles of Supension are very large and they can be seen by naked eye.

  • It shows tyndal effect.

  • It can be filtered.

  • It show sedimentation
