Cu^{+2} ion is more stable.

  • The atomic number of calcium is 20. After removing two electrons the total electron of calcium becomes 18.
  • The electronic configuration of Calcium ions is-
  •  {1s}^{2}  {2s}^{2} {2p}^{6}   {3s}^{2}  {3p}^{6}
  • So, it has attained noble gas like configuration where the 3p orbital is filled and highly stable.
  • Zn has a total of 30 electrons so, after removing two electrons it has 28 electrons. So, it does not attain a noble gas configuration and low stable.
