In music the staff or stave is a set of five lines with four spaces on which the musical symbols like notes, rest, clef signs, sharp and flat are placed. Two types of staves are commonly used. They are treble staff and bass staff.

A clef is a musical symbol which is used to indicate the pitch of the written notes. It is placed at the beginning of the stave on one of the lines. The name and pitch of that line's notes are indicated by it.

The correct answer is option 2 - Staff.

Musical symbols are the marks and symbols used in the musical notation of musical scores, styles, and instruments to describe pitch, rhythm, tempo and its articulation.

The Staff is the fundamental latticework of music notation, upon which the symbols are placed. The five staff lines and four intervening spaces correspond to pitches of the diatonic scale. The clef defines which pitch is meant by a given line or space.

The British use the word "stave" often instead of 'Staff'.
