The equation photosynthesis follows is :

Plants +Sunlight + chlorophyll+ oxygen -----》food(glucose)+ carbondioxide+ water

●Photosynthesis is a natural process of preparation of food by plants using sunlight, oxygen .

Green plants make food by process of photosynthesis on their own thats why they are known as autotrophs.

By product of photosynthesis process is carbon dioxide and water.

The process of photosynthesis is as follows.

  • Photosynthesis is a process that is used to convert light energy into chemical energy in plants through the process of cellular respiration.
  • Plants use energy from sunlight to transform carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) into glucose (C6H12O6) and oxygen (O2) which occurs in the chloroplast of a cell.
  • Through the tiny openings in their leaves called stomata, they take carbon dioxide. Guard cells present in the stomata are responsible to open and close stomata.
  • Cellular respiration occurs in mitochondria. In this process, plants break down sugars and convert them into carbon dioxide and water to release energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
  • A series of chemical reactions that converts carbon dioxide (CO2) and water(H2O) into glucose(C6H12O6) and oxygen (O2) is known as photosynthesis. The chemical reaction for the process of photosynthesis is as follows:
  • Carbon dioxide + Water ⇒ Glucose             + Oxygen
  •          CO2         +   H2O ⇒   C6H12O6         +      6O2
