The strength of a solenoid can be increased by increasing the number of turns.Higher the number of turns, higher the length and thus the amount of current carrying coil material in use is higher and thus higher the magnetic field due to increased amount of current flowing through the solenoid as a result of the increased number of turns. Magnetic Field is given by firmula B=μNI in which N is number of turns.

A cylindrical Coil of wire whose diameter is small compared to its length is known as a Solenoid. It can be used to generate an essentially uniform Magnetic Field similar to that of a bar Magnet,when a Current is running through it. The Magnetic Field is directed along the axis of the Solenoid.
