Tufte's principle which says that you should not distort data is data ink ratio .

Tufte says that data ink is a non erasable ink.Content can be lost from the graphic if data ink is removed from the image.

Well a non data ink is not transportable.Data ink is used to represent the actual data.

The formula to calculate data ink is= data ink/total ink used to print the graphic.

He had certain principles to be followed while visualizing the data.

Visual integrity: Tufte states that the data should be factual and contain only actual values.

The increase in the false data will reduce the precision of the visualization of data.

He also states that the data should be clear and precise and not be distorted in order for the data to be visualized.
