By applying Fazan's rule here,
because the H2 in all the compounds is same,
we can say that H2Te will have the most covalent character due to more bigger Telerium atom size.
And, thus H2Te will have less boiling point.

arti44: H2S HAS THE SMALLEST boiling point .the order of series is low to high as:H2S,H2Se ,H2Te, H2O

Answer:

H₂S has lowest boiling point.

Therefore, the option (b) is correct.

Explanation:

  • All the hydrides of oxygen family are volatile. The volatility increases from H₂O to H₂S then decreases.
  • The trend of volatility is given as: H₂O < H₂S > H₂Se > H₂Te
  • The water molecules are associated with each other through hydrogen bonding. So, its volatility is low. Therefore, its boiling point is high.
  • However, the hydrogen bonding is not present in other hydrides.
  • The intermolecular forces between other hydrides are Vander waal's forces. These forces increase with increase the molecular size.
  • Therefore the boiling point moving from  H₂S to H₂Te increases.

Hence,  H₂S has lowest boiling point among the other given hydrides.
