Explanation:

For CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Exam, NCERT is the best book so far. I believe, reading and understanding the NCERT chapters' theory thorougly will maximize the chances for getting a high score. Reference books like Pradeep, Dinesh or Modern ABC explains the concepts in much exaggerated way and following only the reference book will be much time consuming. If a student fails to understand a topic from NCERT or want to get a deeper understanding of a specific concept then reading that specific concept from the above mentioned reference books would be a great idea. That's why we called them “Reference Books” :P

For practice and gaining confidence, a student should try solving previous year question papers. This will impart idea about the exam and there is always a high possibility for getting few repeated or similar questions in the exam.

P.S.: I just considered CBSE Class 12 exam and shared the best as per my experience. I didn't considered any other board or competitive exams while writing the answer.
