The Correct relation is y= Cp/ Cv

Explanation;

  • The heat capacity ratio is y = Cp/Cv .
  • The Specific heat constant pressure is denoted by  Cp.
  • The Specific heat constant volume is denoted by Cv.
  • The heat capacity at consistent pressure Cp is more than the heat capacity at constant volume Cv, due to the fact while heat is brought at constant pressure, the substance expands and works.
  • Where as in gases the amount of heat varies relying on constant pressure or constant volume conditions. Therefore we've got  specific heats for gases i.e. Cp and Cv.
