As per the books, current is considered to be the flow of electrons. In the series circuit, the channel is similar so the flow seems to be same.
On the other hand, voltage is known as the difference between the potential energy at two points.
In parallel, both resistors are well connected to the similar electrical points so voltage is same whereas in series, there are 3 different electrical points.
