The Malavikagnirnita comprises of two words Malavika and Agnimitra is a Sanskrit play by Kalidasa.

It is a play that depicts the love story of Agnimitra ,the second king of the Shunga dynasty and Malavika  the beautiful maiden of his queen Dharini.  

The king accidentally came across the portrayed of the maid which was set out on the order of the queen. The king immediately fell in love with the picture and wanted to see her . When the queen came to know about Agnimitra`s love for her maid she got furious and put her behind bars.

Malavika was in the ended  accepted as one of his queens when it was discovered that she was born to a royal family who fell into the hands of the robbers.
