Desktop computer is the computer which is kept on the table. As desktop computer is heavy and needs a place to keep and assemble it as it has many parts which need to be assembled then it will do its functions.

The Desktop computer has following main parts needed to work:-

Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, CPU, UPS.

Monitor is the screen or display of the computer.

Mouse is the pointing device. It is used to select or highlight any text or icon.

Keyboard is the input device used to type or insert information in the computer.

CPU is Central Processing Unit. It is has two main parts (a) ALU- Arithmetic Logic Unit and (b) CU- Control Unit. ALU is used for processing mathematical functions and CU is used to control the data.

UPS is Unit Power Supply. It gives you time to save and shut down the computer when there is a power cut while working on the computer.

Desktop is not portable, it cannot be carried anywhere easily. But Laptop is a portable device and is easy to carry anywhere.
