(a) Delta is the feature which is related to the lower course of the river.
- Generally, a river has a total of three stages and these are the upper course also called the youthful one, the middle course also known as the mature one and lastly the lower course which is also called the old stage.
- Firstly in the upper stage like a young child signifying youthfulness, the river is high on energy and power. In the second stage, the velocity and power are comparatively slower. In the third one, energy is mostly lost so the flow of the river is very slow and this signifies calmness.
- The last stage, delta occurs because lots of componential material gets stored in the river when the speed is slow it enters into a sea or lake for that matter. This shall only take place when the total amount of componential material eroded is the lower total amount of componential material being stored up.
- It is stored at the old or lower course stage wherein the surface is flat, and speed and velocity are slow. Here the deposition factor is of high value so more and more delta comes into formation.
