Carbon monoxide is a contributor due to ‘incomplete combustion’ of coal and petroleum.

Option: (iii)

Explanation:

  • Incomplete burning takes place when ‘there is not enough’ supply of oxygen. This takes place in isolated place where carbon, ‘carbon monoxide’ and water vapour is formed.
  • On complete combustion only ‘carbon dioxide and water vapour’ is formed. Incomplete combustion results in soot.
  • The door is rich in carbon monoxide which is a very toxic compound since it reacts with oxygen to form carboxyhemoglobin. Also it traps the ‘heat of the sun’. Hence a green-house gases.
