• but the major contribution towards land degradation is made by deforestation

• deforestation means cutting or felling of trees. this can happen on any type of land like a mountainous region, plain region, or plateaus

• grazing means that animals or cattle are feeding upon the vegetation. when this process of grazing becomes extreme it is referred to as overgrazing. because of overgrazing land becomes barren because plants don't grow in such places
• mining reduces the fertility of the land and makes the soil polluted and barren.
• over-irrigation means irrigation done in large amounts. because of such over-irrigation, the fertility of land reduces and the soil gets eroded leading to land degradation.
