According to mass flow hypothesis
Water in plants are mainly transported due to transpirational pull ( this is due to pressure difference which cause capillary rise) and surface tension caused in the column of water in xylem by cohesive and adhesive force between water molecules and water molecules and tissue of xylem respectively
