The small intestine is divided into three parts:

☆ Duodenum : the first segment of small intestine. it helps in making chyme chemically active so that it can be absorbed easily by small intestine.

☆ Jejunum : it is the middle part of small intestine where maximum absorption of food takes place.

☆ Ileum : it is the last segment of small intestine. it absorbs vitamin B12 and the digestive enzymes back such as bile salts.


=> rectum is not a part of small intestine.
