Given  : On a coordinate plane, a line goes through points (0, 0), (10, 40) and (-10, - 40)

To Find : Which ordered pair would form a proportional relationship with the point graphed  on line

(40, 10) (–5, –10) (5, 20) (–10, –20)

Solution:

Lines passes through

(0, 0), (10, 40) and (-10, -40)

Slope of Line =  40/10 = 4

equation of line  = y  = 4x

(40, 10) (–5, –10) (5, 20) (–10, –20)

(40, 10)

x = 40 => y = 160  hence (40, 10)  does not  form a proportional relationship

(-5, -10)

x = -5=> y = -20  hence (-5, -10) does not  form a proportional relationship

(5, 20)

x = 5=> y = 20  hence (5, 20) does    form a proportional relationship

(-10, -20)

x = -10=> y = -40  hence (-10, -20) does not  form a proportional relationship

(5, 20) does    form a proportional relationship
