Larynx is the organ of the respiratory system also known as the dual organ because it has a complex structure having flexible and tough segment that connects pharynx to the trachea in the neck region and it performs dual functions;

1. It is involved in breathing. It works as air canal located at top of wind pipe allowing the air to pass through it by preventing the entry of food o water.

2. It is involved in producing sounds as it is known as the organ of phonation or voice box as it has the vocal folds that function in producing sounds as we speak or sing etc.
