The organ name is Spleen and this is responsible for blood purifying and storing blood cells for emergency like in case of hemorrhagic shock.

Spleen is a sponge like organ located in the left upper aspect of the abdomen

In fetal life and in some special situations it does the job of production of RBCs/Blood.

And in normal physiology it does have a pool of blood which can be readily mobilised in case of need.

Hence it just functions like a bank!
