The organelles that controls the osmotic pressure in a cell are the vacuoles, the cell has to maintain a particular pressure called the turgor pressure to maintain its shape and metabolic activities.
This pressure is maintained by the vacuoles. Also in a fresh water system when the water outside is hypertonic than the cellular body there occurs an inflow of water due to osmosis in order to equalize the pressure on both the sides. This can cause the cell to burst because of over accumulation of water.
