7 professional or 8.1 if you are a beginner.
Try Linux if you know your way around.
OS usually doesn't matter but the specs of the computer does.
Make sure you have enough RAM.

Nischith16: Usually 4gb is enough. Always have additional slots and having 8gb is better.
