1. Physical properties of an organic compound is determined by its boiling point or solubility, which depends on number of carbon atoms or presence of oxygen atoms.

2. Chemical properties depend on functional groups...for example a compound with OH as functional group is an alcohol, with CHO group is an aldehyde, with COOH is a carboxylic acid, etc..
