DENDRITES receive the neuronal sensations.

  • A neuron is the structural and functional unit of the nervous system.

  • It has mainly two parts : cyton (cell body) and the axon.

  • The cyton of the cell body consists of numerous thin projections known as dendrites. These dendrites connect to the axon terminal of the other neurones and take up all the impulses from the other neurons.

  • The impulse gets transferred through the cyton into the axon. The axons transfers the impulses into the axon terminal.

  • From the terminal, impulse is transmitted through the synaptic cleft into the dendrites of the successive neurons.
