Which part of the brain controls involuntary actions write the functions of any two regions of it

There are two two types of actions in the body, namely; voluntary and involuntary actions.

Voluntary actions are controlled by the cerebellum and involve such activities as standing up from a seat, raising your hand and throwing a kick.

Involuntary actions are activities in our bodies that are not under our conscious control but occur automatically. The involuntary actions include breathing, pumping action of the heart, peristalsis and control of blood pressure.

The medulla oblongata is part of the brain stem that controls most of these involuntary actions (The brain stem is the posterior part of the brain that is continuous with the spinal cord. It is made up of three segments; the medulla oblongata, the midbrain and the pons).

The medulla controls the involuntary activities of the body like sneezing, heart rate and vomiting. 

Here are some of the regions of the medulla and their functions:

i) Reflex centers - this is responsible for reflexes such as swallowing, vomiting, sneezing and coughing.

ii) The cardiac center - responsible for the regulation of the heart rate.

iii) The vasomotor center - this is responsible for the regulation of blood pressure.

iv) Respiratory center - this is responsible for the breathing activity.
