Due to osmosis,the solvent particles move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.in a concentrated medium, solvent particles go inside the cell causing the cell to swell up and exert pressure on the cell wall. The cell wall thus exerts an equal and opposite force which prevents the cell from bursting
