Telangana Praja Samithi demanded for the  formation of Telangana . It was founded in 1969.They resorted to strikes and demonstration for a  separate state.

During the 1971 parliamentary election  Telangana Praja Samithi won majority of the Parliament seats in Telangana. But the agitation was later abandoned when some of the leaders of TPS   realised that then Prime Minister Mr P.V.Narasimha Rao was not in a favor of a separate state of Telangana.

Telangana Praja Samithi later joined the Congress after the party was dissolved.
