the poet took the road less travelled, it may indicate that the road was less travelled, itself indicates that it was a decision & many took a bad decision & were very less who took a correct decision, & then the poet says that the decision has made all the difference.

Answer:

The poet Robert Frost chose the road " less travelled by" when he was faced with two roads that " diverged in a yellow wood" . Metaphorically the poet is saying he took a path that was more risky than that taken by most of us, the path of a creative artist and writer.
