Free thinkers are taking a risk that most folks won’t (and maybe it’s good they don’t) take.

There’s a lot of free thinkers that aren’t, but are just rebellious anti-traditionalists. I was (still am a bit) one myself at 71.

The lowest risk-averse folks are prone to great adventures weather it’s physical or mental.

I think most of that is because they were either encouraged to do so by parents or those around them when growning up or they greatly disliked the upbringing they had and are rebelling from it (the latter for me).

But the risks can be high even if the risk taker is still driven in spite of the risks. Most are not actually “free” but actually mix and match ideas/behaviors that came before them (some cluster into groups).

So most often, it’s a reattempt to do what had been done before. But sometimes, a refinement is included (due to lessons learned and/or new circumstances) and an altered path is devised/tried.

In the end, the tremendous leverage and attraction of traditions and the learned dominance hierarchies of authority in the status quo keeps people from taking the risks.
