The period of 1 year from 1793 to 1794 was referred as the Reign Of Terror. This was because of the leader of the Jacobins : Maximilien Robespierre's severe control and punishment .
He considered ex-nobles and clergy members and members of other parties and members of his own party who went against him as his enemies and arrested, imprisoned and gullotined them.
He followed the policies very seriously , leading to his own supporters asked for a change.
Thus , finally on one day ; he was sentenced in the court and gullotined the next day.
The main features of this period were:
- maximum wages and prices
- Essentials such as meat and bread were rationed
- Peasants had to sell their produce in city for prices fixed by govt.
- White flour's use was forbidden
