The period from 1792 to 1794 in French history, was reffered to as the 'region of terror' due to following reasons:-
Maximilian Ribesperrie followed a policy of severe control and punishment. Any person who did not agree with his policies was guillottined. Robesperrie's government issued laws ,placing a maximum ceiling on wages and prices.Peasants were forced to sell the grains at the price fixed by the government.
Equality was also sought to be practiced , through forms of speech and address.Robesperrie followed his own policies so obsitately, that he began to loose the support of the people.
Hope it helps!!
