According to mendeleev periodic law, the characteristic property of the elements is based on their atomic weights. the periodic table which was based on atomic weight is known as mendeleev's peiodic table. In this periodic table elements are arranged in increasing order of their atomic weight.
For example: the elements Argon (At. mass = 39.9) is placed before the element Potassium (At. Mass = 39.1)
