Haemoglobin is the pigment present in the blood that carries both oxygen and carbon dioxide in the human bodies.

Oxygen passes from the alveoli in the lungs to the blood in the capillaries present in the lungs.

Thus, haemoglobin turns to oxyhaemoglobin, by the combination of oxygen with haemoglobin, while carried to different parts of the body.

Similarly, carbon dioxide is collected by the haemoglobin from the body in the form of carbaminohaemoglobin, till carried to the lungs for exhalation.

Hemoglobin is pigment which helps in transportation of oxygen and carbon dioxide in human beings.

Explanation:

Hemoglobin is an iron containing respiratory pigment which transports  carbon dioxide and oxygen to different parts of the body. It has very 'high affinity' for the oxygen.

It is usually purple in color but oxy-hemoglobin is bright red in color while carboxy hemoglobin is somewhat lighter in color. It carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to body and deoxygenated blood from body to the lungs.
