'Three Men In A Boat' is based on a river journey. This river journey is undertaken by the narrator of the story Jerome K. Jerome and his two real life friends, George and Harris. They have a dog named Montmorency with them in the journey which is a fictional character in the story. They make their journey on a boat in river Thames. Their journey is for two weeks and almost all the important places located on the banks of the river Thames is visited by the three friends. Their journey starts from Kingston and ends at Oxford. During their journey, they cook and sleep in their boat. At least for a fortnight, the boat become their home. During their journey, the narrator and his friends have no complaints with regard to the homely comfort and they enjoy every moment of the journey. During their stay at night, they visit the local places and enjoy life.
